Looking for Paddy Orange from Portarlington

"I sailed as Ordinary Seaman on the IRISH SPRUCE in 1963/64 I think
they were the years. We joined the ship in Aberdeen Scotland and sailed to
Dublin then to Le Harve in France, Amsterdam, Bilbao then to Lake Charles
Louisiana then to Conarky West Guinea . Where Paddy Orange got sick he was taken to
the local hospital. I visited him a couple of times before we sailed to
South America. I think they flew him home some time later. I visited him
when I got home a year or so later. I was wondering how he is today.
I also sailed Deck Boy on the IRISH ASH around May 1962. Ivan Tyrell was
the Captain, I can't remember the names of the rest of the crew.
Incidentally I met Capt. Tyrell in the late 70s in Glasgow I used to
manage a Restaurant called Sloans, there was a shipping company close by,
and the managers used to come in, I happened to be telling one of them
that Ivan Tyrell was the first Captain I sailed with, would you believe?
they brought him in the next week.
I sailed on the IRISH OAK I think it was early 1963, we went up the Great
Lakes, I enjoyed this trip the best lots of overtime. We picked up the new
Diesel Trains for CIE. They had five of the engines as deck cargo, when we
were sailing through Lake Superior we hit a bad winter storm the seas were
breaking on the deck and freezing in the cargo the crew spent the night
breaking the ice off the riggings and engines. Very exciting".
