in Newport 1961.
Next one a comment from the Irish press from January 1962
Both pieces would have been dated between
29/8/'61 and 17/01/'62 as from my Discharge Book, Skipper
was McCarthy and C. Eng was Dobson. My background was Class of '55
Crawford Inst. Cork.

Funnel
colours that have, alas, joined the long list of extinct shipping
companies. Little did I know then that it was the last photo I would
take with Irish Shipping. I paid off on our return to
Ireland
, went to study for my 2nd. Mates and
thereafter sailed under foreign flags.

Here is the Irish Pine 1983 but I can not remember where it is. Of note
regarding the Pine, during the year prior to the real demise of ISL the
Pine was sold, the rumour at the time was that she was sold just to keep
the company afloat for a few more months. The proceeds of the sale were
never adequately documented by the liquidator although the sale took
place before he was appointed. How much of the sale proceeds
went against company debt and how much went against corporate
wages and packages was never determined.
